2023 Challenge
After a long unit about linear equations and a successful end-of-unit quiz, my students and I found ourselves with just one class period left before spring break. Here is where I introduced the 2023 challenge - can we make every number from 1-100 using an expression that contains the numbers 2, 0, 2, and 3 exactly once? Not only did the students have a great time helping me make the poster and start to compete with each other for who could complete the most numbers, but we also got to learn a little bit about why 0!=1 and think about creative ways to make large numbers.
I'm planning on leaving this up in the hallway so that students with a few minutes of free time can try to complete the numbers we didn't get to. What a blast!
